This was a special day for Gamma’s Lt. Nendesal. Today was the first day of his vacation. After months of dedicated service to the Galactic Empire, I was able to enjoy myself without worrying about the hassles of commanding a squadron. Even though the day had started off awkwardly, for I had forgotten to turn off my alarm clock the night before, so it woke me up before I was ready, I knew that this was going to be a wonderful week, full of rest and relaxation. I then walked down the hall towards my office desk, where I left notes for SL Artamus, who would be temporarily given command of Gamma.
I bid my fellow officers good day as I entered a shuttle that would take me to an isolated space platform, where I would find my own personal Lambda class shuttle, which I had just purchased from a used lambda dealer. As I waited for the shuttle to land, I looked through my inventory, which was mainly composed of miscellaneous utilities that often helped me in my travels. Some food rations, a Universal Positioning System tracking device, etc. But these items hardly compared to my lightsaber. I’m no Jedi, yet that is, I had found it on one of my travels to the outer rim. The color was one of my favorites, a nice dark red, with a hint of green. True, I was no expert in saber fighting, but I figured, if I ever had to use it, that the Force would guide me in it.
Several moments passed before I realized that the shuttle had stopped moving. I looked out my window, but failed to see anything of significance. The Chimaera was long gone, and there was no sign of any hostility. I waited patiently for the captain to come over the intercom explaining what the problem was, but several minutes passed with no such explanation. I sat there reading the Galactic Newsletter, which had just recently been published. Soon after though, I realized I needed to go the restroom, badly. I must have drunken too much of the complementary juice they give you, for I was about to explode. I got up, and made my way down the isle towards the restroom. All of a sudden a rather rugged man holding a blaster intercepted me.
“Hey, you! This is a pirate raid, give me all your stuff!” He said.
This seemed like the perfect time to test out my potential lightsaber skills. I reached towards my belt and grabbed the saber of light, but before I could do anything, a blast shot out of the pirate’s rifle and jolted the saber from my hand, shattering it to pieces.
Shoot, I liked that lightsaber.
I pulled my hand back in pain, and looking down, realized that I had lost all control and wet myself. I looked up, and saw a large, blurred, fist-shaped object coming towards my head. Having no way to defend myself, I let out a loud scream and was knocked unconscious.
I woke up in a small prison cell, having no idea what time or day it was. A lone guard was patrolling the area, and I noticed a sign indicating the direction of an escape pod. Hmmm, I thought to myself. I called the guard over. He walked over the direction of my cell and stopped several feet before it. I asked where and what day it was. He seemed all to enthusiastic about telling me all kinds of details. It turned out I was in a pirate prison camp, and it was three days from the time of my capture.
I did the same thing over the next couples of days, and eventually gained the guards trust. On the seventh day, he walked over to my cell and stood all but a couple inches from the bars.
This was my chance. I grabbed him by the collar and kicked the guard in his most private area; luckily, he was not wearing a cop and the impact did not shatter my bare foot. The guard lay on the floor moaning in pain, I grabbed the keys from his belt, and unlocked my cell. I had heard the rumors of how stupid pirate guards were, but I never thought it would be this easy. I easily found the room where my utility belt was being stored, and continued to run towards the escape pod. Once inside, I used my Universal Positioning System device to devise a course to the Chimaera. The pod launched, and I waved goodbye to my make-due vacation resort.
I arrived in the Chimaera hangar about a day later. Ah, home sweet home. Commander Junon greeted me as I walked towards my quarters.
“Hello Lt how was your – Good God! You smell like you’ve been living in a dead tauntaun for a week.”
“Yeah, I know, pirate captured my shuttle, I wet my pants, slept in a prison cell for a couple days, and haven’t showered in a week, and how are you?”
“Oh, ah, just fine.” Junon said, as he slowly backed away. He then darted for his office in hopes of freeing himself of the foul stench that was upon me.
I showered and went to bed, and longed for tomorrow, when I could once again return to commanding my squadron.
