It was in January 1999 that a young, eager person joined the Galactic Empire. At this time, he was first known as Ensign Eskimo. After commissioning into the fine navy, this ensign was assigned to Epsilon Squadron, under the command of Lieutenant Whitten aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer II: Chimaera. That officer was a traitor to the empire. Epsilon squadron was the first X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter squadron to be commissioned in the Galactic Empire; EN Eskimo as the 46th member. This was a day to be joyous! After a while, the number of XvT officers in the empire increased and the squadron was moved to its new home, the Victory Star Destroyer: Vigilant – and with a new flight leader.
It was also around this time that Imperial Officer Eskimo changed him name to the now famous Polanski. With Lieutenant Dan as the Epsilon squadron leader, activity rose and his ideas got him known. Captain Starbug (as he was then) noticed as well. This was an important point in the young ensign’s career. One of his most famous productions was an animated GIF file for the Epsilon Squadron Holonet Website, which is still in use today. This earned him one of his first medals of merit. Later, because of his rise in activity, Lieutenant Dan promoted EN Polanski to SL Polanski.
The next part in this officer’s life had begun. It was not a great career advancement looking back now, but then – it was very important. The new position filled the Sub-Lieutenant with even more energy and he strove to become one of the most known, and useful officers around in the Empire at that time. Here he learned the skills that he would need to later in his career. With the number of XvT officers ever increasing, the number of squadrons on the ship doubled to increase capacity and therefore fill the Vigilant with space for new members. It seemed only a couple of weeks before SL Polanski met with CP Starbug one day and the captain offered his congratulations. He soon found out why – he had become the new leader of Eta squadron, the other XvT squadron on the Vigilant.
Using the knowledge the officer had gained as a sub-lieutenant, he tried his best to get control over the squadron, using competitions and other ideas. He created the Eta website, one of the best made for the GE, using drop down menus and other classy tools. This earned another medal that he added to his ever-growing “collection.” Once, the dedication to the Empire earned him a Medal of Merit, presented by CP Starbug. Eta squadron proved a tough challenge to the lieutenant. AWOL officers, and non-active officers plagued the good officer’s attempts to create a working squadron. At one time membership was very low, and morale fell between those in the squad. With a few messages to Grand Admiral Daemon, his squadron was put onto the top of the list for receiving new recruits.
An opportunity appeared once for the lieutenant to apply for a position on the Ship Command Staff (SCS) of the VSD Stalwart. The Stalwart was the newest ship to be manned with Lamed and Zayin squadrons being stationed. It was for the rank of LC, or Lieutenant Commander. This was the post of 1st officer, the captain at that time being CP Dervin. By a creation of the “GE Applications Program”, and combining the right image for the job, he was selected by the captain and promoted to acting LC pending final agreement from the GA. This was denied – the reason: He was too inexperienced as an LT to become an LC. The candidate that was chosen however, was LT Rhys von Pohl. With the semi-failure behind him, LT Polanski worked extra hard to make sure it didn’t happen again – and next time, when an incident occurred and CP Dervin was left duty of the Empire, LC Rhys von Pohl got an automatic promotion to the Captain, and the position was again up for grabs between the officers. This time, LT Polanski’s application was accepted, and the promotion was allowed and the LT stepped into a command position aboard the newest member of the Galactic Empire Fleet.
Being a LC on the SCS was very different, and it brought with it many new tasks for the now seasoned officer to perform. However, the captain made it easy for him and the transition went extremely well. It was a shame on the other hand about Eta – on the next official GE wide AWOL check, the squadron was decommissioned due to a large percentage stated as AWOL. It still remains non-commissioned today. Without looking back too much, the LC performed duties to the dot. In some instances, he was required to take command whilst the Captain was away for a small period of time – this produced no problems and he was commended on his work. Lamed and Zayin squadrons were a strong bunch of officers, in every way. The ship was full of life – the AWOL percentage was always very small. This was another driving force behind the LC’s work. The new Stalwart Holosite that was made was even better than the Eta site, with lots of information able to be accessed using state-of-the-art coding.
The officer’s current position, of full Commander (CM) aboard the ISD Chimaera and as first officer on the flagship of the fleet, occurred because of retirement into the reserves by the original SCS staff (CL and CM.) CP Rhys von Pohl was promoted to Line Captain to fill the open spot, and requested that LC Polanski followed to become the 1st officer. This was a difficult decision – if he had stayed on the Stalwart he would have become captain, but the offer and background between himself and the new Senior Fleet Officer went back a long way – and so he chose this post, and allowed new officers to become the new SCS staff of the Stalwart. It is this post that Imperial Officer Polanski is working on at the moment, with many ideas for the future.
